Maximus Melody Night.

Maximus Advertisers held the *Maximus Melody Night *on the 21st of Janurary 2016 at Park lane Hotel, Lahore  with transmedia Pk as their Digital PR Partners.

It was a music filled night with performers such as Mumtaz Ali, Kashif Ali of Dhol and Rizwan Anwar from Nescafe Basement who had the crowd singing along with him. Wintry night with heaters on and live music had set the ambiance for the night.

Park lane Hotel us one of the top business hotels in lahore and for the event they set delicious meal for the guests.

The event was about showcasing the brand image of Maximus Advertisers what as a company they had to offer as well as for targeting the audience of the hotel.

Asian Aroma was recently launched at the Park Lane Hotel, Lahore. As a picky eater, I’ve never been one to go try out different cuisines, let alone Japanese. Being a little reluctant to try out the food, I still make it in time to visit my friend, Fatima Hamid, at the Park Lane Hotel. Fatima is the Public Relations Manager at Park Lane, and a great host, might I add.

Walking up the stairs, we turned to the right, directly into Asian Aroma the Japanese Cuisine at Park Lane.

The food smelt good, and I wasn’t so scared anymore; I still had my doubts about the Crustaceans that I would have to eat.

Abdullah, the chef highly skilled in cooking Japanese food, has been trained in cooking since more than 7 years. I start with the crunchy prawn that is being offered to me with a mild sauce, and as soon as I cut the prawn & devour it in my mouth, I cannot help but feel excited about what comes next. This ACTUALLY tastes pretty decent, and this review comes from a person who has NEVER had Japanese food in her entire life!

The prawns were amazingly delicious, with the mild sauce that the restaurant serves side by side. The prawn tempura platter is enough food for two people, and very reasonable and affordable. I’m in love with the prawns, I’d give them that.

I had my reservations with the crab, though.

Moving onto the Moriawase Sushi Platter, (which offers Crunchy Maki, Salmon, Tuna, Red Snapper, Prawn, Eel & Crab Stick Sushi), I am highly confused as to what I have to choose. However, Abdullah the chef helps me out, and asks me to pick either the eel, sushi or crab. I pick two: sushi and crab.

Sushi with soy sauce tasted just about right, loved how it was a mixture of so many ingredients and how nice the soy sauce tasted. I don’t love soy sauce too much, except with crackers at a Chinese restaurant, and it doesn’t taste so good with the sushi either.

I LOVE the sushi without the soy sauce, which is why I dip the sushi only from one side in the soy sauce and put that side first in my mouth, to get rid of the taste ASAP. Nevertheless, the sushi is AMAZING. Tasty and cooked to perfection. Abdullah really has his way with Japanese food!

I felt a little disgusted KNOWING that I was having crab, as I’ve never had it before in my life. It gave me an image of me eating an animal or an insect, like they used to show in ‘Fear Factor’ when I was a little kid. It gave me chills down my spine, but nevertheless I couldn’t help but notice that it actually did taste good. I had fun and I enjoyed the one bite.

I finally did it! I had a crab without puking.

Shortly after, Abdullah began his live cooking and all of us just gawked at him. His work was similar to that of a bbq person making ‘taka tak’, and he played with the utensils so smoothly and flung them around in the air & caught them with such ease that it was entertainment for us, and at the same time, live cooking with burning-hot food arriving at our tables.

The Chicken Teppanyaki, Red Snapper Teppanyaki, Vegetable Teppanyaki & Garlic Fried Rice were all being cooked side by side at Abdullah’s cooking station. I sipped through the delicious mocktail (this is the second one now) as he served us rice in a bowl along with the teppanyaki combinations and we had to eat all that with chopsticks (which I still suck at, by the way).

At the end of the meals when we are finally done, we are offered ocha (Japanese tea). It tastes like a mild herb tea, and it instantly makes us all feel fresh.

I Found JAPAN In Lahore….!
Being a food lover and an explorer, i was blessed to taste and try European, Asian and African cuisines during my travels around the world; but Pakistani chefs have always sublimed my taste buds. Being a typical Pakistani my longing for native Pakistani restaurants and their fusion international food has always inspired me, being away from my country for over two decades now.
In my days in Pakistan i.e in 80 ‘s and 90’s, Chinese restaurants were our only deviation from a routine house meal, but now in my recent travels to Pakistan I was astonished to see a number of international cuisine restaurants making their way into weekend luxury meals of almost every household.

It was a foggy evening in Lahore, the city of fascinations, when one of my friends mentioned the the new culinary wave, a Japanese Restaurant – Asian Aroma, Park Lane Hotel famous for its gourmet dining — something you can only authentically eat in that one place. The friendly manager led us through the hall with a flexible layout for both bar and traditional table settings. The neutral color was complimenting the fine dining experience and yet soothing to the eye and sophisticated enough for the cuisine in hand.
I lowered my eyes on menu pages, which were thick with a variety of Japanese, and English names and that seemed only to get more densely crosshatched as time went on, and for good reason as all were mouthwatering to choose from.
The dozen or so meals I could recognize from my previous experiences in Japanese restaurants had been a marvel of consistent variation, ringing fluid changes of texture and flavor on those three little words that define the cuisine of this island nation at its heart: iso no aji, or “tastes like ocean spray.”
To my dismay I could not choose after going through the menu at least three times. I guess Chef Abdullah from across the bar tables could see the frustration and came to our rescue. He not only recommend some of the hot favorities but also the explained about the ingredients and origins of the dishes.
We were happy to finally place our order and were left to enjoy the chitchat in peace. But that was not for long, quite soon, in fact precisely after twenty minutes the aromatic and beautifully presented dishes were laid out before us by a humble gentleman Shehzad.
A wide variety of vegetarian and non veg foods were served in small portions, using one of five standard cooking techniques as mentioned by Chef Abdullah. All foods were divided into five color groups (green, red, yellow, white, and black-purple) and six tastes (bitter, sour, sweet, hot, salty, and delicate). Two uniquely Japanese foods are sushi (fresh raw seafood with rice) and sashimi (fresh raw seafood with soy sauce); both rely on freshly caught fish or seafood and Asian Aroma ensures that. Dishes prepared in a single pot (nabemeno ) was the real fascination. Sukiyaki the dish made up of paper-thin slices of beef (or sometimes chicken), vegetables, and cubes of tofu cooked in broth was divine. Shabu-shabu the beef and vegetables, also cooked in broth but then dipped in flavorful sauces. A gulp of green tea followed by a mouthful of chopstick picked portion of sea Was a whole new Japanese experience with a delicate flavored taste of ritual and I will bother them again for sure during my next visit to Pakistan.

WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING, IF NOT DEVOURED SUSHI YET

I would praise the awe-inspiring sushi with a whimsical twist and bet you would sit down to a sushi dinner next time, before long you will modify your words and phrases like toro, chu toro, o toro, maguro, akami and more, let’s plunge upon truth I, happened to go to a Japanese corner for first time, and was literary amazed to see all what I felt, usually I would end my day with some typical desi or Chinese at times to live another day.But how Japanese food shook my nerves was incredible, after loads of work I was tired and famished of food and sleep, utterly esurient, plodding through the menu of pure Japanese list my mind clicked for sushi as raw fish is more than common and fish lovers do not put their hands onto any other except raw.

I’m open-minded about my food and understand that raw fish is not high on everyone’s list, so kudos to them for finding a way to bring sushi to the masses, even with non-traditional items like marinated beef or teriyaki chicken rolls. With some amazing creations such as their Unagi, eel, foie, gras, and their Matsuzaka, beef sushi. On their tails, Honomono and Maru also get fresh cuts of tuna and other delicacies, and you won’t be complaining about the bill if you are feasting on the top sushi tuna slices that are melting in your mouth.The listings of Japanese are so numerous, one could probably just stroll down and pop in to a new eatery for months and not go wrong.

img-20161126-wa0040Today, apart from raw, sushi still serves as an ample word to encompass that strain of Japanese food culture. But in reality, there are all these subtexts. For the most part, what people in the states encounter are nigiri, maki, and sashimi.

In Park Lane, arrived at 3:05 pm and got seated promptly at the table around the grill by a very friendly waitress, while deciding on what to order. I was not completely satisfied in taking a crack at Japanese recipes. I spoke to the same friendly waitress about it, she was quite humble and shared her experience with me taking the food I ordered Marionese Nigri Platter, Chicken Katsu, Red Snapper Tapanyaki, Vegetable Tapanyaki and Sticky Garlic Rice with O-cha tea in the end as I am a great tea lover and loves to experience different kinds of tea flavors. It took a while before the entrees were served. I watched the chef cook the dishes in front of me. He was as friendly as the waitress and courteous as well. The food was worth the wait. Dishes were delicious and authentically flavored. Neither the chicken nor the fish were over-cooked. I added some more of that ginger dressing to my dish, which really brought it up a notch and sauces like stake lemon (Punzu), chili sauce which they made themselves, and that’s their specialty.

Marianese Nigri Platter, included Tuna, Red Snapper, Salmon, Crab, Eel, Crunchi Maki Nigiri is a type of Sushi made of thin slices of raw fish over pressed vinegared rice.Accompanied by Pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce, garnished with a sauce, mostly occasionally if the chef so fancies, eaten with hands or chopsticks. Nigiri in Japanese means two fingers (ni = two, giri= fingers). Nigiri sushi gets its name from the rice which has to be of a very specific portion and fit on the chef’s “two fingers” when pressing. Sushi is a Japanese term that refers to anything made with vinegared rice.

Chicken Katsu: A Japanese dish breaded with deep fried chicken, cutlet one to two centimeters thick that is sliced into bite-sized pieces or strips

Prawn Tapanyaki: A style of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle to cook food, since the word teppanyaki is derived from teppan, which means iron plate, and yaki, which means grilled, broiled, or pan-fried. Modern teppanyaki grills are normally propane-heated flat surface grills and are widely used to cook food in front of guests at restaurants because a solid griddle type cook surface is more suitable for smaller ingredients, such as rice, egg, and finely chopped vegetables.

Sticky garlic rice: Every single grain is laced with that garlicky goodness that just bursts in your mouth.

O-cha tea (green tea) after an arduous working day on would surely go for it, a perfect blend brings you back to life, best to have with dinner. It keeps you vigilant.

Though food was extremely amaze-balls but Asian Aroma is hole-and-cornered, also the food is expensive and not accessible for a mediocre still you would surely cheer, If you walk into a sushi buffet or a sushi spot, Asian Aroma, this is what you’re likely to encounter. That’s not to say that raw can’t be excellent, it’s just tuna has win my heart, so now sushi is calling you.
